The second polling station in Batroun was equally quiet, but friendlier. Members of the opposition Batroun Families List claimed they formed their list three weeks ago after learning that certain prominent political families were left off the FPM's list. They also claim that because of this they are at a disadvantage in terms of planning, funding, and media access. Nevertheless they hope for a close race. FMP say that they are confident that at least Harek will be reelected as mayor for a third term. The voter turnout has reached close to fifty percent. Each of the two lists contains just two women.
In Koubba there was little evidence of political opposition between the two family lists. Voter turnout there was forty-five percent.
In Salaata, a town of only three hundred voters, sixty-five percent had voted by five o'clock. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.
As this post goes online, the polls have been closed for ten minutes.
